Acceptable use policy

Draft — not yet reviewed by a lawyer.

simmail is for testing software that sends and reads email. This policy, part of our terms of service, lists what is not allowed. It applies to the hosted service, the free tools and the API.

Don't

  • Harvest addresses. Don't use simmail, its World streams, personas or tools to collect, verify or build lists of real email addresses.
  • Load real people's data without permission. Don't put personal data of real people who have not agreed to it into a universe, for example a production database export or a real customer's mailbox. Use test data, or data from people who have consented to this use.
  • Try to make it send mail. simmail cannot deliver mail to real mailboxes. Don't try to work around that, for example by using webhooks, link clicks or the AI to relay messages to real people or systems.
  • Abuse the free tools. Don't automate, scrape or flood the free tools and checkers, or use them against systems you don't own or have permission to test.
  • Load test beyond your plan. Don't send traffic designed to exceed your plan's limits or degrade the service for others. If you need more capacity, talk to us.
  • Attack the service. Don't probe, scan or test simmail's security beyond your own account, except as described in our responsible disclosure guidelines, and don't try to access other customers' data.
  • Use it for illegal or harmful content. Don't store or generate content that is illegal, that exploits children, or that is designed to harass or harm a real person. Simulated spam and phishing for testing filters are fine; real campaigns are not.
  • Share or resell accounts in ways your plan does not allow, or create accounts to get around plan limits.

If something goes wrong

If we see use that breaks this policy, we may limit, suspend or close the account involved. Where we reasonably can, we will contact you first. To report misuse, email [email protected], or [email protected] for security issues.
